  • move
Richard built the AFV kit to depict a Scimitar of "C" Squadron, Queen's Dragoon Guards, Al Faw, Iraq in March 2003 which supported the British drive on Basra at the beginning of the Second Gulf War. Enhancements included replacing the kit supplied gun with an RB Model 30mm RARDEN gun and tracks with the AFV CVR(T) Family Workable Tracks and use of the Eduard 35633 photo etch set. Aluminum foil was used on the rear view mirrors and headlights, and ship rigging used for the rear tarp tie downs. A combination of Tamiya Desert Yellow and Buff paints (5:5) was used for basic painting. This was followed by an Ivory Black and Burnt Umber oil wash and Yellow Ochre and Titanium White dry brushing. Pastels were used to achieve the dusty look.
