Italeri have some new armour related items hitting the market soon. First we have the M3 Stuart Light Tank in 1/35th scale, which performed reconnaissance duties in North Africa, and did a sterling job against the Japanese in the Pacific theatre. Next we have a 1/24th scale Land Rover LWB (long wheel base) 109, the Land Rover served the British Armed Forces for a number of years and a number of guises which I am sure will make this a popular kit.

A Landrover...in 1/24 scale? What on earth is the point? Surely in 1/35 this would sell like hotcakes, but 1/24, well I cant see it happening. I wish companies would just stick to the normal scales instead of trying to be creative or different.

Rob I have no idea why they released it in 1/24th but I guess there must be a market for it, and you never know it may also be released in 1/35th in the near future.

Maybe they figured it'd appeal to the model car market? Guessing what goes on in the company boardroom is a losing game...

I want to see the M3, seeing as Mirage was recently said to be offering one.

I think the Stuart is the mold from Academy, and the Land Rover might be an Esci mold, nonethess, it is a welcomed addition.

The M3 Stuart is indeed the Academy kit in a new box, and with a premium on the price. The Academy can be had for about £10 and is better value. What we need now is a diesel engine deck conversion set for USMC models.
The 1/24 Land Rover is an ancient kit first released by Esci way back when Series 3 Rovers were still current!. Early 80's or so. There were some civvy variants too. The basic vehicle is OK, but the radio installation in the rear is a work of fiction. It looks like old Larkspur kit, which was replaced by Clansman in the early 80's, but is poor by any standards. I don't see the after-market boys rushing to do upgrades for this, but I'm prepared to be surprised. Legend would be good .....

The two from Mirage appear to be in 1/72d scale.

I am very happy to see this kit re-released by Italeri, this was originally produced by Esci - around 1982. I remember an article in Scale Modeller detailing all three releases. IIRC the front swivel hubs were a touch iffy. I will be picking up at least one as I plan to convert one to a Pinkie.

Esci originally released three Land Rovers, Pick-up, Station Wagon and this the Para version. I am guessing that the Comms gear is a Larkspur set-up and not Clansman.

Another release (or rerelease in this case) in 1/24 scale. Note how everything is going according to my plan (cue maniacal laughter).

Seriously though, what accessories would you need to bring this old dog back to more modern standards? What would make this a cool model to build? Just curious as to what this model's potential would be.

But the price? If you plan to market rereleased kits at least make them attractive price wise.

Being the LWB version I believe there are a lot of options as regards what you could do, the difficulty would be keeping the price affordable with amount a nd some of the work you would have to do.
