Cue dramatic profound music...

I started this kit back in 2004 when I was in high school, and never finished it. It sat through many happy and hard times in my life unfinished. Now it's time to finish this beast.

LOL

This is the Dragon kit. I don't care too much for accuracy on this build as I just want to have fun. Some of the errors I made back then I can't correct like not using wire for all the handrails. Plus, I want to keep it an out of the box build as the kit has sentimental value.

I working on the color modulation on it right now and here it is.

And here's the crew member that will go with it

I'll update this as it comes together.

Philip- very nice work so far. Its not a great kit as you pointed out but I think you've spruced it up quite well. It could just be the lighting but I think that the front bow plate is very uniform in that kind of drab green shade- I would say a bit of lighter color in the middle might bring it more in line with the rest of the vehicle. Thats just my two cents anyway!

I must say the figure is particularly nice- the shadows and highlights are really spot-on.

Good luck with the rest of the painting!

Yeah finish it, if the figure's anything to go by it should be pretty good.

The paint and weathering looks great. I'm not sure that Karl's suggestion is necessary, as it seams that that the bow plate is weathered, but doesn't show up that well in your photograph.

As for your figure, it's outstanding to say the least. Looking forward to seeing your finished build.

Its an old Verlinden figure Andy, from their early Soviet tank crew set.

Lovely work Philip! I have a ton of similar half built projects that have been sat for years collecting dust on the shelves, you've inspired me to dig some out and have a go at finishing. I think the base colour on the BTR is coming along perfectly, under a coat of weathering it should look ace. The figure is a beauty as well!

Thanks for the comments. The figure is from a Verlinden set.

Here it is, as best as I could get it. I used AK interactive rain marks and weathering kit for the weathering. It works quite well, but next time, I'll try something different on the wheels. More pictures tomorrow when the light is better.

Finally finished this one. Not too concerned over accuracy.
