Hi guys.
I've got a couple of Dragon T-34/76s in 1/72. I quite fancy doing on or both Ehkranami ( with screens). However, I have only been able to find one picture featuring T-34 Ehkranami. Could anybody help me?
Thanks in advance.
Euan

What would you like to know? That particular tank is from the 3rd Guards Tank Brigade, Kalinin Front, April or May 1941. It was one of maybe 300 T-34s produced at STZ in February of 1941.

Unless you read Russian, the best descriptions of the tank are in the Czech MBI monograph or the Wydawnictwo Militaria (Polish) reprint of the Lagutin monograph from Frontline Illustrated. Apart from that, there is now lots of material about these tanks in Russian publications.

No help with 1/72 scale kits. In another WM reprint (by Kirsanov) there are templates for the plate you see on the front hull. There was none on the turret (that was Zavod No.112). That's a starting point.

Enjoy.

Thanks alot guys, you have been really helpful as usual. I think I going to make the armour from plastic-card. Also, I read that some early T-34s drove into battle with a spare transmission on the engine deck. Is this true, and if, can anyone maybe provide some pics?
Thanks again

There's a well known pic of a 1940 T-34 with a transmission lashed on the rear deck, captured in Lvov, I believe.

You can find almost everything you need here

http://panzer35.ru/forum/43-8038-1

There's a really stunning job there

To find more references about, it's far better to use the original Russian nomenclature as a keyword for your internet research. So try using

Т-34/76 с экранированной

Cheers

Thanks guys, you're the best. Now for the next question.
Can you get a 1/72 T-72 transmission?
Thanks again.

You want to be careful which T-34 you are building. At the time the order was given to apply supplementary armour, there were three T-34 factories producing: UTZ (Zavod No.183) in Nizhnii Tagil, Krasnooe Sormovo (Zavod No.112) in Gorkii and STZ in Stalingrad.

The T-34s with the extra armour on the turret are all from Krasnoe Sormovo. The tank in the photo that you posted is from STZ. They are significantly different in hull construction, suspension, tracks and turret. Start from DML 6355 and add the plate to the upper front hull. Use the drawing bottom left on this plan.

Tanks were camouflaged in two-tone green and brown. There are two other photos of the tank in your photo. There are also photos of tanks from the 130 TBde, which were delivered at the same time.

Thanks very much for the info and link, the diagram is really useful. The brown and green camo also sounds cool, I'll probably try it!
Thanks

I forgot to mention: to use 6355 it is necessary to replace the early driver's hatch with the new style, and to use the late style engine air intake grilles. It is still the easiest kit to start from to get an accurate model.
