As we know it is 70 years since the D-Day landings in Normandy, but also this year it is the 70th anniversary of the the famous but failed attempt to finish the war by christmas 1944 with Operation Market Garden.
I would therefore like to propose a campaign to commemorate the Operation.
If approved I would look at starting September 17th 2014 as this was when the operation started in 1944. But as it only lasted until 25th September I would be looking at a little longer for the campaign lol. I would think March 2015 thats 6 months, but open to ideas.

Any scale either allies or Axis, troops or vehicles or even better both incl. dioramas. There would a huge scope for what you could build and a great way to commemorate one of the famous operations of the tail end of the war.

Peter there was a campaign of the same name back in May of 2009. It was on of my first campaigns and if I remember correctly there was not may that finished I believe maybe only like 5
I'm all for commerating this operation but maybe it should be expanded to include a wider topic

Hi Pete,

Sal's correct, only 4 finished at least according to the gallery. However, it was a great campaign, built lots of stuff, learned a lot. May I suggest a year long campaign and that it could include unfinished works as well. Any unit that took part in the campaign, allied or axis (there are the surrendering paras), from single figures/vehicles to vignettes and dioramas in any scale. Should include aircraft too.

That way a lot more should complete and the scope and time frame should suit a wider audience.

I still have a medical para jeep to build and of course there are the new Bronco offerings.

Cheers

Thanks Sal and Alan always open to ideas, yeah aircraft would not be excluded or single figures. And a year sounds good, especially if it gets more ppl interested. Kits part done I don't have an issue with either.

Hi Pete,

I was thinking there might be a few around who didn't complete last time but could finish them off in this one.

Cheers

I'm in. I tried to get a 'Para Only' campaign going some months back and didn't get a single comment.

Plus who was it that just released a large, resin bridge in /35th?

If I have or am able to get (finances depending that is) a kit for this I'd be able to partake in these festivities. Wrote a school report on Market Garden last year and the teacher didn't even know about it.

I think I am in, just have to look at the stash in what I have. Just busy moving house and looking for a job. As it stands now I am in. A year long campaign sounds good. I might entertain building a flak or a PZ 4. Just been reading up on who and what was there.

That makes 8 and 9 if you're in Alan. Getting there.
To recap
A year long campaign starting Sept 17th 2014 ending Sept.17th 2015, any scale, any side allies or axis, part builds accepted as long as no more than 30% complete, figs, wingys, vehicles anything as long as it was involved in Op Market Garden. Dioramas encouraged but not compulsary

Hi Peter, my uncle was in the Paras 1st Airborne Div.

Now I need to find all those DML Red Devil kits.....

EDIT; Paul, while looking at your link I couldn't help but notice that all fees were going to be divided amongs vehicle owners for expenses. While that sounds fair, I can't help but think that someone who owns a working tank, drivable tank! Can afford gas money.....

Maybe that's just me.
