I am trying to build dios from used styrene meat trays as a cheap and believable dio source. The thing is, I dont have an air brush but I must spray with acrylics first as oil based spray cans melt the styrene. Do they exist?

See here for an example:

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/frank_glackin/vwp?.dir=/Styrene+City&.src=ph&.dnm=Styrene+City2.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/frank_glackin/lst%3f%26.dir=/Styrene%2bCity%26.src=ph%26.view=t

and the same painted:

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/frank_glackin/vwp?.dir=/Bridge+Defense&.src=ph&.dnm=scene.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/frank_glackin/lst%3f%26.dir=/Bridge%2bDefense%26.src=ph%26.view=t

This was the first serious dio I have attempted like this and have a few ideas I want to continue (there will be an article soon) to improve on this. But I need to get a good base coat down as the enamel paints i use, melt the styrene, especially the cut sides.
Any help here would be appreciated.

I think that tamiya paints are acrylics. They come in spray cans also. They market a primer also.

Thanks Penpen. IŽll check tem out at my local hobby store. I have never used Tamiyas colours before. I use Humbrols enamels mostly as they are the easy to get option where I live.

PenPen is right.

When's the article to be expected. I wrote down once before that you really amazed me what can be done with styrene. Since I'm on the even of building my first dio in like a hundred years, I just can't wait untill the article is there..... Cmon.......write on.....faster....faster.....I know you can do it.... :-)

Dont worry Pen-Pen, the article will be with Jim before the deadline in competition. Im not really entering to win... Im too unlucky for things like that, but it has given me a deadline to work for. What I wanted was an acrylic paint medium to prime it and protect it from harsh enamel painting. Just doing some scouting in advance.
