Trumpeter has just shown some photos of the M270 MLRS kit. That can only mean it is close to release!

It was supposed to be released under Merit brand. I wonder if they changed their mind and release it as Trumpeter or Hobby Boss kit?

Looks like it has potential. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the old Dragon kit. Also interesting to see if it has a cab interior and removable M26 rocket pods as well.

You really wonder how a kit from 1992 is going to compare to one from 2016?

Sure, just because a kit is new, doesn't make it a great model. The Dragon kit is pretty good. It has a few issues, but nothing major. I'll wait and see if it has the same features as the Dragon kit; like full cab interior, removable M26 rocket pods, ammo bay doors that open, reloading booms with lift winches and pulleys, opening door with boom control panel, etc., etc., etc....

Wonder if they will provide an ATACMS round as an optional weapons fit?

Thankfully there's a 'hide user' button! Keeps the blood pressure down.

Great news!

If I remember correctly some time ago Trumpeter annouced in their catalog both MLRS and also the MARS version, hope they got the 2 of them to the market now.

Would be good to know what kind of tracks they include, I really hated the originals in Dragon kits.

Cheers

I wonder what kind of markings there are in the kit.

Why not for a french LRU in operation Barkhane ?

ATACMS are vis-mod pods that are disguised to look like all other munitions models, guided and non-guided: M26, M28, M30, etc. In my best J.R. R. Tolkien, "One MFOM (MLRS Family of Munition) pod appearance to rule them all!"

I would too. The Takom Leopard 1 came out a good 30 years after the Italeri one and is at best a marginal improvement, and in some areas, a step backwards.

Yup, you can see an ATACMS pod in the pic below. It looks just like any other standard MLRS rocket pod.
