Feeling so fly, like a G6! This beast has served with the armies of South Africa, Oman and the UAE.

Oh boy if this is the first of a 'downpour' of SADf kits (didn't Trumpeter announce a rooikat some time ago?) I'll go bankrupt before the end of the decade!

Oh well maybe Draghi can bail me out

Great news !

Grz,

Sam.

The only "drawback" is that they said that they don't plan to release the export variant.. "but might be persuaded to with the right amount of research".. So, you can only build it as a South African vehicle.. not that that's a problem, but it does limit the options.. I was hoping to build one with the Emirates military.. I wonder if the differences are very obvious?

Honestly, it's an obscure enough vehicle, if you just put the right markings on it, how many people are going to be able to tell you it's not 'correct'?

I'm actually of your opinion.. on first look, I don't see any glaring differences that kind of "hit you in the face".. but you can bet there will be people saying it is not correct

I'm just going to build it anyway

Brilliant been waiting for this for years hopefully more kits will follow of the rooikat, ratel versions and such instead of the limited and expensive range of resin kits. Maybe AFV club would consider an oliphant version of their excellent centurion range.

If you remove the turret and place some miniguns on top, it could easily be a Mad Max or Zombie scenario vehicle. Definitly one for me.

Are there any walkarounds on the G6 out on the net?

The differences between the UAE export variant and the SANDF vehicle are fairly minor and pretty much all in the turret... revised stowage, what appears to be an air conditioning system where the large rear stowage box is located... larger windows in the turret etc... conversion of the SANDF machine to a UAE type should be relatively easy and I am sure if Takom does not proceed with the kit then someone will make a conversion set

I want one,as the artillery unit that operated with us in 87/88 in the battles around Quito Cannevall used them and the G 5 cannons

A good few years ago I was involved in Trials with the G6 and a Marksman turret. I wonder if Takom will produce this combination as they already do the Marksman on a Chieftain hull.

@TheTogsman: I bought the Takom Marksman kit - you have inspired me to buy the G6 and build a version of the prototype. Where were the trials? Can you point me at any references? Thanks in advance!
