Ironically, I was going to kit bash one from the new Takom/Tamiya kits and some old dragon parts... Guess I was wise to wait!

(Gasp)...You mean Dragon actually new-tooled an AMX turret? Or is that from someone else?

A new AMX turret! On a tired old wrong M4A4 hull?

Making a new M4A4 would be nice, although the pics we saw a while back looked like the old kit.

Say, didn't Hellet make a AMX?

Very interesting subject. I was quite stunned at the combination when I first saw one at the israeli tank museum in Latrun.
What catches my eye is the box art: usually it is the opponent that is depicted burning/disabled/knocked out. Here it is a buddy tank. Can you imagine such a box art on an Abrams or Merkava kit?

Quite interesting subject but Biggles and m4sherman are right, what this kit is made of ? If the content is on par with the box rendering, not sure we'll get a great kit... Dragon M4A4 hulls (upper and low) are not convincing at all and it is strange to see a brand new AMX turret from them ? Or is it Takom's offer ?

Let see... but mixing Tasca/Asuka hull with Takom or Tamiya turret may still be the best way to get this FL10/M4A4_A2 ?

Old verlinden offer or discounted Heller AMX kit could also be an option for the bravest of us

Also, some of these egyptian conversions were abandoned during the six days war and the re-used by the Israelian army later on.

This kit better not be reusing their 90s M4A4 hull.

Except they obviously won't be branding it as a Black Label now everyone knows what a failure the series has been.

I did the Tamiya/Heller mix of this vehicle...which was ok for 80s kit technology. With this release, I just might visit another build.

All the descriptions look like they did. The new parts seem confined to a new rear deck and the turret?

In case anyone is interested, some of these did make it into a couple of war movies. At least one about the Arab Israel wars and another about WWII where these received some German crosses.

In a duel between an Isherman and an AMX Sherman, which would win? As Dragon makes both, they're probably both losers! (Just kidding. Usually I like Dragon)

I know this is a bit premature but assuming this new Dragon FL-10 turret passes muster which would be the best M4 chassis to start with? (I was considering doing this model as a conversion anyway!)

Oops, sorry, I now see that multibank sort of already answered the conversion question.

Whoever gets the first shot in, most likely. Both tank's guns would go straight through the M4 at any angle.

Yes, and I would say he who got in the first accurate shot would win the fight. The better training of the IDF would be a factor. They were making hits at 1,000 meters in an friendly fire incident. The M4A4(A2) AMX set up had some issues, which is why the IDF went with the M50. Still, that would have been an interesting duel to witness.

These conversions were done on M4A2 and M4A4 hulls (the latter rebuilt with the diesel engines and engine deck parts of the M4A2, as nobody but the British liked the Chrysler Multibank engine). If you don't like Dragon's current M4A4 hull, you could swap an Asuka item with suitable modifications.

Did they upgrade the unsafe ammunition stowage as part of the rebuild?

The Egyptian version kept the AMX auto loader. Near as can be seen it stayed dry stowage. I have the Lioness and Lion books on the M50, and based on the interior pictures the ones photographed were dry stowage. The left side of the turret basket was lined with rounds.

After WWII it was determined that the wet stowage really didn't help as much as expected, which is why it was not used on later tanks. Putting the rounds in the lower hull was a definite improvement.
