I wonder when the Borgward Iv with the panzershreks will be released

Curious that they have retained the "Bergetiger" label while this kit aims more at the other alleged role, as charge layer...

This is from Wikipedia, not sure how correct it is, but may be the answer.

Thus the allies dubbed the vehicle they had found the "Bergetiger". No official German name for this vehicle has ever been located.

The German documentation states that the tank was used for charge laying; however, some of its fittings indicate that it could also recover heavy vehicles.

Oh no not another tiger

That flimsy hook & gantry rig could barely lift a Kubelwagen, much less an ATV...

The vehicle was supposed to drive up to the intended target and then the charge was lowered using the crane outside the vehicle while under fire...

That it could do, but I don't see any recovery ability...

As David has stated there is a folded set of tow bars/spreader bars on the front. So this converted Tiger would certainly be able to tow/recover any number of vehicles. I don't know why people always get hung up on the crane - recovery vehicles almost always tow the "victim" vehicle.

Considering how strained the drive train was on Tigers I wonder how successful this vehicle would have been before it too needed a tow. Now how about a new Bergepanther kit instead?
