Is this the FWD version (hence A in the designation)? I think I can see a diff on the front steering mouldings.

In the spruce shots I can see both a differential axle with steering gear AND a straight unpowered axle. Could it be possible they are giving us parts to build either a 4x4 or a 4x2???

Correct: "A" stands for Allrad(-Antrieb), German for AWD.

I own the older kit with rear wheel drive. Usually, you recognize the AWD versions of German trucks by the body sitting higher on the chassis.

Front differential is visible (just) and as Jean says the truck sits higher than 4x2.
