Dragon has launched a new 1/35 scale kit of a Jagdpanther Early-Production tank destroyer. What sets this one apart from previous early Jagdpanther kits is that it’s a 2-in-1 kit, as modelers can choose to build their armored fighting vehicle either with or without the distinctive Zimmerit coating consisting of small squares. rn

I'll be ordering this one.

However, I hope they provide the single left exhaust pipe. The one in the pic, with the two cooling air inlet pipes, was not introduced until May 1944. The Jagdpanther's built between January and April '44 had the original configuration. Otherwise, you really have something closer to a late early/mid-production version.

So...if you have extra left-over wheel sets from other Dragon Panther kits, you could build two complete Jagdpanthers from this kit?

Don't think so. You would still need all the parts that attach to the upper hull and the main gun.

OK...so if you buy an AM gun, OVM tool set, and necessary PE, wouldn't it still be cheaper than buying two Dragon Jadgpanthers?

So the only up with this kit is that you can decide if you want to add the zimm yourself, after you buy the kit...

I expect that as the roof had no zim, you will only get one of those plus all the accompanying parts. Then you will need the gun cradle parts, the mantlet fitting, the torsion bar suspension for the wheels, then all the bits like exhausts, etc will be required unless there are options or 'spares' on any sprues used for prior/future kits.

So in a nutshell, you have the makings of a Jagdpanther complete.... and one hull for a 'start of production' build dio....

Not exactly a hard modification to make as I recently did this myself to build the prototype version. Simply check your references and cut off the extra parts.
