Vallejo Model Color base coat - and I would like to tone it down a bit.

Q: can I lightly airbrush a wash over the entire surface and let it dry without touching it with a brush?

or will I end up with a streaked mess?

I want to improve an undercarriage from a single color, and then brush paint a few selective details. obviously this is not a contest grade model, but part of the learning curve how to make something "OK" look a little better.

thanks

never tried with the AB ,always with a brush but I don't see any problem, however then in this case you need a filter not a wash, a wash is too heavy and you can changes the color too much, but it's easy, thinn down a bit of the wash and you have a filter, you should have no problems if you give the filter in very light coat, so it is easier to control and understand when is enough, the filters are better on matt, not gloss,or you risks that the color ends up in the recesses of the panels like a wash

the entire model is what I've heard referred to as a "paint-mule" so effectively it is my 'piece of styrene".

stand back; i'm goin' in!
