Hot on the heels of Dragon Models 1/35 scale Smart Kit of a Japanese Type 2 "Ka-Mi" amphibious tank, the company now have announced a 1/72 version.
Using their 1/35 kit as base, the new tool promises to have all the features in the 1/72 version that have become the standard for Dragon. The model was researched using a surviving tank on Peleliu.

Though it was the first amphibious tank used by the IJN, it came too late to participate in their island-hopping campaign. In amphibious operation large pontoons were attached to the glacis plate and rear deck to provide speeds of up to 10km/h in the water. These pontoons would be shed for land operations. Armament consisted of a 37mm main gun with a Type 97 coaxial machine gun.

Hopefully this a sign of a trend of Dragon releases both in 1/35 and 1/72 scale!
