A second announcement from Dan Taylor Modelworks this week, and this time something for the German AFV fans.

Another announcement from Dan Taylor Modelworks is two new sets of decals in 1/76 scale, that can also be used for 1/72 scale. This time around a set for the Panzer Regiment Lehr and Panzer Regiment 12.

Set No. T-76027 – II Abteilung, Panzer Regiment Lehr
The Panzer IVs of II Abteilung, Panzer Regiment 130 are the subject of this set. They sported a distinctive form of turret numbering and this is faithfully reproduced here. The Abteilung arrived on the Invasionfront on 7th June 1944 and were committed to the attack the following morning. On the 9th they had penetrated to the outskirts of Bayeux, but this was their high water mark. From that point they became part of the defensive line, initially around Tilly-sur-Seulles against the British XXX Corps and later moving westwards into the US sector around Vire. By 1st August 1944 the number of Panzer IVs available had sunk to 15 from an original compliment of 97. Markings for five specific tanks based on photographic reference are provided. Markings for a further fourteen tanks are included and the numbers have been chosen so that, given a little mixing and matching, all of the unit’s Panzer IVs could be modelled.

Set No. T-76028 – II Abteilung, SS-Panzer Regiment 12
The subject of this set is the Panzer IVs of 12 SS Panzer Division as they appeared from the Spring of 1944 through the Normandy Campaign. During this time they adopted a distinctive hand-painted method of turret numbering and these are recreated here in meticulous detail.
A number of markings for specific vehicles are provided along with some generic numbering to allow you to make up any tank from the Abteilung. Details of placement and specific features are shown in the instructions along with an organization table. II. Abteilung, commanded by Sturmbannführer Karl-Heinz Prinz, was heavily engaged in combat from 7th June 1944 in support of SS-Panzergrenadier Regiment 25 to the North and North-East of Caen. They continued in action, almost without a break until the collapse at Falaise in August. Attrition was very high and by 8th July the Abteilung could field only 32 of its nominal 108 Panzer IV.
