Italeri has released a new product in the form of a 20ft Military Container in 1/35th scale.
This latest release from Italeri may not be the most exciting model we have ever covered but I think the diorama fans out there will be very pleased to see this offering. The image provided indicates that the container can be shown open but I do not know what the interior detail is like. The container should be a fairly easy build and be of use for a wide variety of scenarios, and it is topped off with what appears to be a great selection of decals.

The 20-feet freight container is a key element for the international logistics. The 20-feet freight container, and the larger version and roomy 40-feet container, are in fact the international standard reference for all Countries. The standardize container – in terms of size, volumes and loading capacity – makes possible to optimize the intermodal freight by ships, trains and trucks. The logistic has become more effective and faster. Even the warehouses and stocking areas management became easier and more flexible. Thanks to its features and flexibility the 20-feet container has been adopted by several Armies to optimize the logistic and the ground support activities.

Why? There's only one type. There are no variations. They are all constructed to a single standard. Google "metal shipping containers" and you'll see for yourself.
No variations, huh? I did just as you suggested and got here: LINK where I found this image. All the standard will do is control the envelope dimensions, the location of the corner connector pockets, and give performance characteristics for the floor and walls. It won't define every nut, bolt, and washer. It's just like boxcars: They all look the same until you compare them at the same level of detail that we do the tanks we model. KL
And??? There isn't enough profit margin to take it on. Or, do you think that the anxious, impatient masses will create the market to make it worth somebody's while to bother?
I wasn't addressing the viability of Paul's idea. I was addressing the absolute falsity of your statement. Proven false, by the way, immediately upon performing the exact search you recommended and looking at the first two images Google returned about halfway down the page. That's the way things go sometimes. KL

I'll parse my words more carefully in the future. Did they name smugmug after you? JZ

Well, I do feel better because 1) I corrected your factual error in this thread for future reference, and 2) After you got angry and went after me for daring to point it out, I was able to rub your nose in it. Thanks for asking. Rather than parsing (which is what the reader does, not the writer) you might want to try choosing words that give a less authoritative tone when you are really only guessing. And maybe taking a "Boy, I sure f-ed that up! " or "Huh. I never knew that." tack when a simple mistake of yours is inoffensively pointed out rather than chewing on the person who found your error. As I am the one who made the initial request and who also immediately invalidated your rather smug assertion by performing your indicated search, I was going to make a pithy comback to question your assumption of what I or others may find worthy of note or business, but it appears that Kurt has said it all so I will leave you hoist upon his petard. As to business opportunities, the variations in doors was what my initial comment was built around, but MBR has reminded me that there are also various refer variants plus the rather common military and civilian office & barracks variants. The more I think about it, the more I think may be something commercially worthwhile in this after all... Paul

Hmmm couldn't find it. Have a listing number or seller name, please? Thanks! Paul

I picked up a couple from here They're really well detailed, go together easily with no real clean up required, and there is some detail on the inside so they can be left open.

Just seen an interesting combo: An old decommissioned MAN 5 or 7to gl still in army color but with civilian plates and a white 20ft container, likely a office unit. Will try to get some shots
