A week or two ago I answered a thread on another site regarding AM upgrades for Italeri's D.U.K.W. in 1/35th scale. Shortly afterwards, I was contacted by Scott Taylor, who, coincidentally, has just started a small After-Market (AM) company who are doing as their first release, a very interesting set of Fenders for the DUKW....

Thachweave Products are a Canadian company who, have taken a very interesting approach to one of the existing problems in the Italeri DUKW kit - a problem that seemed (at least until now) pretty much insurmountable - the rope fenders of the DUKW...

No matter how good the casting or sculpting is, it is very difficult to reproduce a convincing representation of rope, therefore a more 'radical' approach has been adopted by Thachweave Products - actually 'weaving' the subsitute parts...

Below is a photo of one of the kit parts with one of the (woven) replacements:



The set consists of six woven replacement parts to substitute the six (plastic) kit parts - four for the bow and two for the stern:

The set, the first in a series of similar releases, will retail for CAN$25. The NEXT releases will be similar sets for the LCM and the LCVP with a further set for the GPA Amphibious Jeep under development...
