There is another exciting announcement from Dragon Models under their new Black Label line, this time for a Cold War Paper Panzer that was shared with the Americans.
Dragon Models has announced yet another tank under the new Black Label line, this time the MBT 70 (KPz 70). Starting in the late 1950’s the German’s and American’s began work on a new main battle tank, unfortunately the design was eventually abandon. But for the German’s it became the predecessor of the Leopard 2, and for the American’s the M1.

3550 – Black Label MBT 70 (KPz 70)

According to Dragon Models, this new, and highly anticipated kit, should hit store shelves in February 2014.

Not really, but thought I would have some fun with it. there were several prototypes built, I believe there are couple in United States and couple in German still on display at museums.

There used to be one at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, in Maryland. Aurora did a 1/48 version of this tank back in the early 70s, not too long after it was still being considered for use.

So, is this model available to order? It would be nice to have it under the Christmas tree.

The one that was at APG was kinda neat. It was an unarmored version.

So. New England Military Museum (located about 1 mile E of hotel that AMPS East was held in) has one the prototypes in rough condition, but at least you can climb all over it.

There is a German version in the Tank Museum in Munster here in Germany. It's in good condition too, I shall have to take extensive photos of it the next time I am there.
