155mm Artillery Support

Some news out of Kinetic Model Kits has an American tracked modern artillery support vehicle on the way.

Kinetic Model Kits has announced they have a M992A2 Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicle in the works. The M992 is based on the M109 chassis and is designed to carry up to 90 conventional rounded, as well as a conveyor system for transfer of ammunition to a M109. I have also seen images of the M992 towing a conventional field artillery piece. The kit is stated to include a fully detailed interior.

So is the key difference between the two the back doors?

Yes. The Kinetic CAD shows a newer M992A2 with the vertically-split rear doors modification. Riich Models CAD shows a older M992A2 with the horizontally-split rear doors. Other than that, the rest of the externals should be the same. There are a few differences internally, but nothing major.

Since the vehicles are from 1 CAV, that is Ft Hood, not Ft Knox.

In the CAD are water cans. Fuel cans can also be strapped in the same positions.
