Coming from AFV Club is another Churchill variant of an AVRE this time with the Snake launcher.
AFV Club has announced another great looking Churchill variant. This time an AVRE with Snake launcher. Unlike the previous announced Snake launcher mounted on the Churchill gun tank chassis, this uses a smaller launcher on an AVRE.

Armorama would like to thank AFV Club for the update.

Only a double stack of four? The only photo I have of it is four stacks high. At least now we have a good plastic kit.

What exactly is this "snake launcher"? Hisham

To do a Crocodile, they would have to do a late production Churchill first, wouldn't they? They've done a carpet layer version, I think a bridgelayer would be possible. Cheers, Christophe

Thanks for the link, Christophe... If I remember correctly, in the beginning of the film "Saving Pvt. Ryan", they used a tube like that to open up a path for themselves.. I guess that would be the Bangalore? Hisham

was this or the version on the 3in gun carrier ever used in combat?
JUL 23, 2014 - 04:30 AM
The 3" Gun Carrier was an expedient measure to mount an (obsolete 20CWT AA gun as an) AT gun, to counter the perceived Invasion threat. Some 50 were built, later converted to Snake carriers These weren't used in action as the 6Pdr/57mm & 17Pdr/88mm were developed as much better weapons. (Snakes were a development of the Bangalore Torpedo, as featured in Saving Private Ryan).
