Scale ModelWorld 2014 takes place at Telford on the 8th and 9th of November, get there if you can.
With less than a week until the largest plastic modelling show in the world opens its doors to the public, final preparations are being made for this huge annual event.

Hosted by the International Plastic Modellers Society (IPMS), the two day exhibition at the The International Centre in Telford on 8th and 9th November will become the temporary home of over 5000 plastic models of all scales. Nearly 1000 of those models will be competing for the top honours in our international championships.

In 2013, more than 10,000 modellers from all over the UK, Europe and the rest of the World attended Scale ModelWorld and this year looks set to attract just as many visitors. On display will be scale models of everything from aircraft to tanks, ships to cars, figures and science fiction. The models will vary in era from historic subjects to up to the minute examples in many different scales and themes.

With over 150 different traders booked to attend, you will be able to find just about anything and everything you have ever needed for the hobby. Come and talk to the guys from Airfix and see their latest releases. Check out the Revell stand before starting on the vast array of specialist vendors from across the globe. New kits and old kits, conversion sets, paints, tools, reference material and specialist items from all over the world will be found on the trader tables.

There are many other features too - a major themed display to commemorate the Centenary of the outbreak of the First World War has been two years in the planning and will provide the centrepiece of the event.

A rare version of the Chieftain Tank will also be on display for the weekend, continuing our policy of providing full size exhibits to complement the miniature versions.

Our friends the Daleks will be making a welcome return to the event, patrolling the aisles and generally playing on their notoriety whilst also raising funds for their chosen charity (a Dalek with a heart?).

The show opens to the public at 10.00am on both Saturday and Sunday and is open until 6.00pm on Saturday and 4.00pm on Sunday.

Airfix are running a junior 'Make and Paint' event on both days, so bring the kids along and they can have a go at building a kit from the vast Airfix range - all provided free of charge by Airfix themselves.

Everyone that is going have a great time, those thinking about it, GO! It is a great show, I flew across the pond last year to go, and it was well worth the trip.

Man oh man... I wish I could go. Unfortunately, having no money, being 19, and having a rather too scrutinizing and close-watching family I can not go. The center looks like a very nice place. Some very nice architecture it looks like. Have fun to those who can make it.
