An interesting new kit is on the way from Ding-Hao Hobby that combines an LVT and 105mm.
Ding-Hao Hobby, a subsidiary of AFV Club, has announced an LVT-4 that mounts a 105mm howitzer. This kit, as past releases from Ding-Hao, should contain AFV Club plastic parts and some extra resin bit to complete the model. It is also stated that the Stone Lion of Tomori Okinawa is included.

Hard to tell from just one photo, but the 105 does not appear to be "mounted" per se, to the LVT. So firing it would be a tricky proposition. Looks like it was just parked there to be hauled to & landed on the beach. How the troops were gonna get it off is another question.

Here are some period pics (Saipan 1944 ?): The howitzer could be loaded inside the cargo bay providing the gun tube was elevated. H.P.

Thanks for posting those. I just read about loading that way. Easier to get out and better freeboard in the LVT than with a DUKW. Is this kit supposed to represent the 105 in firing position? There were vague indications of some improvised mounts on Okinawa to overcome the mud and flooding from the Plum rains.

As per Concord no. 7032 (US Amtracs and Amphibians at War 1941-45) this was an experimental version and not used in combat (Source: Patton Museum).
