Dan Taylor Modelworks have announced some new small scale detailing sets this month. Airfix’s elderly Grant gets some improvements, while there’s three sets aimed at Heller’s new Shermans, plus a couple of other resin accessories. Dan is also busy working on a revamped regimental museum at a castle in Kent.
Dan Taylor Modelworks continue their steady stream of resin and etched metal detail sets aimed at the small scale modeller, with some more WW2 Allied sets, as described below.

Dan is also involved in the final stages of creating the Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry museum rebuild at Hever Castle in Kent (England). I’ll try to dig up some more news on this, but it seems that the museum opening will be on the 6th September and will feature a full size recreation of a Cromwell tank interior, a section of Gallipoli trench, and there will be a good number of scale models as well (apparently by no means all small scale…)

Finally, Dan will also be at the MAFVA Nationals at IWM Duxford on the 21 June.

C-76114 (£8.50) Grant Mk I Conversion Set. A mixed kit providing parts to radically improve the elderly Airfix kit of the Grant. In the set are seven resin parts, including a replacement turret and nineteen etched brass parts (plus 48 optional “double I” track shoes) which cover dust shields, cupola, lamp guards, etc. As usual the kit comes with a set of clear illustrated instructions.

C-72111 (£6.50) Sherman Mk III (Early) Conversion. A mixed media set to make the Sherman as they appeared in Sicily and Italy in 1943. The set includes a Crusader turret bin, dust skirts, brush guards etc. and will be available by the end of June.

C-72104 (£TBA) Sherman Mk III Deep Wading Conversion. Provides resin and etched brass parts to adapt the Sherman III for deep wading and to Anglicise the features. See also out 3-bar cleat tracks for use on these tanks.

C-72112 (£TBA) Sherman Mk III ARV Mk I Conversion. A more thorough mixed media conversion set to help build an Armoured Recovery Vehicle. The set includes all of the engineering equipment and stowage associated with the vehicle.

C-72113 (£6.50) Porpoise Ammunition Sledge. As our Sherman Deep Wading conversion set is intended for depicting units operational for D-Day, it seemed a good idea to provide a Porpoise set to go with it. Shermans, Centaurs, Priests and other vehicles used these sledges, and this new set comes with all the fitting in resin plus the towing arms in plastic rod.

C-76117 (£8.50) Desert Stowage. Thirteen items of stowage to give your desert tanks a suitable 8th Army “Bedouin” look. Enough bits and pieces for two vehicles including tarpaulins and escape bags.

Why 1/72 instead of 1/35
JUN 12, 2015 - 11:37 PM
Believe it or not, not every one builds 1/35. Dan Taylor specializes in 1/72-76 check his web site. Although this news is not for me (the subjects are not to my liking) it will be good news for fans of the Grant and Sherman.
