Concord Publications have just announced a book which will be very welcome for modellers of the M4 Sherman in British service...
The last few years have seen a number of excellent books dealing with the more technical aspects of the Sherman. What has been lacking is a good, modern and economically priced book covering the British Sherman 'in Action'.

7062 - British Sherman Tanks

The book is written by Dennis Oliver and published by Concord Publishing. It consists of 72 pages, 173 photos, and 16 color plates. The book carries the number of ISBN 962-361-131-5

The book is essentially covers the first use of the Sherman in the Western Desert and follows chronologically to the final battles in Germany. Also included are sections on the Italian Campaign, D-Day/French Campaign and includes a section on the Burma Campaign.

It's not exactly rocket science, but it seems as if Concord are tying-in their new releases AFTER the release of 'linked' kits to the subject. This was released after the Sherman III, the other of today's new Concord releases comes shortly after the release of 2-3 new Early war figure sets. Now, all I need is the release schedule for the next 12 months and I can accurately predict what's coming out from DML... :-)

A new must-have. I'm curious why the screens on the DD are pink? I cannot read the text on the images. Is there an explanation?

Had a read of it, and there is in-depth info on everything else but! :-) Got me flummoxed... I have seen a few of these pics in the IWM archives... Should one assume they all are? Brad

Sticking my neck out, I would expect a reworked M4a1 (Sherman II) POSSIBLY the Firefly 1c to be updated/retooled and not a lot else. What will continue are those excellent braille-scale Shermans... The majority of Allied releases in 2007 will be Soviet. There are some very ambitious plans underway for both new and Premium Edition releases along with a whole pile of SUs.....

What? No more Shermans after the Firefly Ic? Great this means my credit card and I can relax and start to make inroads into the stash Oh wait I forgot about the Academy Sherman III kit we're supposed to be getting

I doubt it - I was only thinking of 'British' variants. However we'll doubtless get a few surprises along the way...

Apparently the canvas screens of DD tanks were painted using an RN camouflage colour known as Mountbatten Pink. This was a mix of AP507B medium grey and Venetian Red and perhaps not quite so girly pink as portrayed in the colour plate....... David
