Dragon has a new set of three German figures of the battles of Smolensk and Roslavl in 1941
After enormous success during the invasion of Russia, German forces were delayed at Smolensk from 10 July to 10 September 1941. Although a Russian counterattack there failed, this defensive battle was critical to Russia as it slowed the German advance and made reaching Moscow that much more difficult.

The new set has three figures depicting soldiers fighting in the Battle of Smolensk and Roslavl in 1941.

The figures are wholly designed using computers. In other words, no master figure is produced or needed. From initial design through to final tooling using advanced computer programs, 100% of the detail is retained in the computer files. Indeed, the results are evident in Dragon’s newest set of 1/35 scale German infantry.

The poses of these three soldiers are designed to be universally versatile. The trio is standing in relatively relaxed poses. A close examination of these moulded plastic figures reveals how impeccable all the computer-generated detail is. Whether it’s their faces, hands, uniforms or belts, these figures are truly full of intricate detail.

To make this first such figure set even more appealing, the box includes a number of BONUS accessories made of DS materials. These separated uniforms are not part of the figures.

Agree with all the above, but in all fairness to Dragon, their recent StuG lll E appears to be an excellent (maybe outstanding) kit. Maybe this marks a turnaround for Dragon?

While their vehicles are nice I do think that they're overpriced. I've only built some of their halftracks (ebay again at half price) which while nicely detailed with lots of spare parts, they were no better than AFV Club who are less expensive. I quite fancied a couple of their Tigers but looking at the price it put me straight off. Buying a Tiger by someone else and PE upgrades would still work out cheaper. Cost is one of the reasons why the average age of modellers now seems to be 40+ from what I've gathered talking to others because we can afford to actually buy and build kits. Kids have got no chance anymore. The argument that manufacturers come out with about research/moulding costs doesn't hold any water. You only need to measure a Tiger once so whether you release one or twelve versions you're using the same moulds then adding deleting sprues from the box as others have said. Dragon fell off the pintle as the best manufacturer years ago as their output has become rather lacklustre, uninspiring and pretty expensive for what you actually get. If someone was new to the hobby and asked me to reccomend a figure manufacturer I'd automatically say MB, Miniart or Bronco as their figures are both well detailed and above all very useful and varied. The only thing that sells a box of Dragon figures these days is Ron Volstadts artwork. It certainly isn't the figures themselves.

The art for these was probably based on their 1/6th scale figure line. At least two look familiar, but then nearly ever soldier in the Wehrmacht will have his own 1/6th figure before Dragon is done. Why doesn't Dragon do something original like overweight supply sergeants and pinch faced clerical types?

One set Dragon can do is a Luftwaffe ground troop set. Figures in just the fliegerbluse uniform. Then they could represent flak troops, field division or HG Div. airman. Instead of action poses (Which they do have out.), they could just be standing around a flak gun.
