Here's a nice picture showing the Meillerwagen in Australia from the "rear" Sorry boy's but this is the FRONT of the Meillerwagen.. the rear can be used to tow the trailer but at half speed. when the tow bar is on the front the air brake's will work on front and middle axel. there is a tow bar for the rear but that is just for hand steering in narrow curves. TAKOM has made us a Meillerwagen straight out of the British Cosford Museum and not aoperational Meillerwagen you have to scrach alot of items to get it in operational status. Yes sure. I know, therefore there are the quotation marks! The Meillerwager is towed with the double axle at the rear - the other way round as showon on the box art. Or explained in an other way: the rear of the rocket is the front of the Meillerwagen. Michael

Completely correct The German instruction book is speaking about Front / Middle / Rear axle. There are some picture of the Meillerwagen towed at the rear but they are on the launching site it self, not on the road. Greetings Bert

Thanks Bert, very comprehensive descriptions. I can see there will be lots of discussions around contest tables on how the V2 was towed. I was recently at our local Museum of Flight annual modelers show with my scratchbuilt Vidal wagon in the display, and there were three local modelers at the work tables building their Takom V2 Meillerwagen (we set up work tables so the public can see the work going on). There was already a discussion as to what the "front" of the Meillerwagen is. I politely mentioned V2 Rocket to a couple of them. The kit looks very nice, but also very "fiddly", but that's ok too. I am thinking the front (true front) tow bar is a much heavier affair that the rear tow bar. I believe the rear tow bar is stored directly above the rear dolly.

. Mike, that's not the rear towing bar on the picture !! It is a part of the Meiller steering system for the rear boogie. The picture shows it in the stowed away position. When fitted to the rear axle it is working to steer the axle when the Meillerwagen go's around Greetings Bert

It crossed my mind that the bar looked tooooooo light weight to be a towing bar. So a manual steering bar then.

This kit has been out long enough now. Why is nobody making an AM resin wheel set for it? There seem to be no shortage of them for the 1/72 scale kit.
