A few months ago, I covered a NEW Spanish manufacturer - Das Werk Miniatures and their interesting conversion sets (and one FULL kit) in 1/35th scale. Now, the company have announced four future releases:
The first two releases are scheduled for April 2007 and cover two widely-used vehicles which have been somewhat ignored by the manufacturers. Both are conversion sets and both use the Tamiya Steyr 1500 as the 'donor':

The first is DWM35202 - Steyr 1500 'Sanka' - the ambulance version.

The second is for the DWM35203 - Steyr Cargo which has the wooden cargo bed.

Also, as an update set , is: DWM35201 Horch Upgrade Kit This includes new wheels and detailed main lights with notek light with fittings. The wheels, are the CORRECT tread pattern for the Horch (unlike those of the donor kit)

Please Note: One of the owners of the company has been in touch with me to say that there will be SOME modifications to the Steyrs as they are checking out details with the owner of a 1:1 scale example!

For FUTURE release is a Gaz 55 (van-type body) - also in 1/35th scale.

Finally, a new departure for the company in the form of a FULL kit in 1/16th scale - the Gaz 57, No release date has been given, but advance photos can be seen at the side.

Thanks for the news Jim. Two very interesting vehicles ... I wouldnt mind having either. Its almost a pity they didnt release full resin kits though. Buying a conversion, then the update set plus the donor kit, I cant see these being any less than €100. The tamiya steyr is still quite expensive as there is no other on the market. Tempting though.

Hello Frank Thank you for your comment. We know that the total cost of the Tamiya kit and our conversion it´s not cheap, but we thought that making a full resin kit would be problematic. Because the cost of that kit, with the quality that we like would be almost 75-85€. And even we try hard to do easy-building kits, they (by now) are not as easy as that plastic kit. And a lot of people has the Tamiya (beautiful!!) kit in the shelf, so we hope that we did right. That doesn´t mean that we do not take comments like yours seriously for the near future (our Gaz 55 full kit). Thanks again paco bofarull / Das Werk Miniatures

That Sanka looks appetizing, and a change in the menu from my usual cargo vehicles.
