Trumpeter provides a peek into the contents of its latest Ukrainian main battle tank kit.
The Oplot-M (Modernised) or BM Oplot is an upgraded version of the T-84 Oplot main battle tank. It mounts a KBA-3 125mm smoothbore gun, complemented by a KT-7.62 (PKT) coaxial machine gun and a KT-12.7 anti-aircraft machine gun. Its advanced fire-control system provides the capability to lay and fire the main armament while on the move. The Oplot-M is capable of destroying ground-based as well as low-flying, low-speed aerial targets.

Ukrainian T-84BM Oplot MBT (09512). The kit contains more than 850 parts spread over 23 sprues. It features a multi-slide molded lower hull and turret, individual track links, as well as photo-etched parts for detailing. A decal sheet with markings of the Royal Thai Army completes the offering. As built, the model’s dimensions are: 280.2mm (L) by 107.3mm (W).

Sorry. I'm confused about the markings. The decals are for a Royal Thai tank. But the painting and markings guide shows 2 Ukrainian marked tanks. ???

AFAIK, only the RTA tanks have the digital camo. Military Modelcraft International Aug 2017 issue has a good reference article on the T-84 by James Kinnear and also an article for the T-84 by Trumpeter. Ebay prices for the Trumpeter T-84 are very high. I am going to wait until the prices drop to under USD50.00

Interesting-looking AFV, does anyone have a definitive determination if this one is accurate, as compared to Dragon's elderly and awful T-80 from years ago?
NOV 27, 2017 - 09:31 PM
Dragon old kits of the T80 (early 90's) are totally out in term of accuracy and detailling. These kits looks T80 but they were designed from photos long time before the access to the tank was enable.
