I would want to hold a copy in my hands, but it's David Doyle for God's sake. And an "encyclopedia" of German armor would be helpful to modelers since there are soooooo many German vehicles and vehicle types.

So this is essentially a timely update of the old Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII? I want this as my EoGToWWII is a pdf file, and I prefer actual books when modeling.

Sounds like an update for the venerable and oh-so-useful Chamberlain book. I'm interested.

I'd need to see this to be sure it's worth buying if you already have the Chamberlain and Doyle book (as I do). How much new info does it have? Also I think there are some errors in the old book, e.g. Beobachtungpanzer IV. I wonder if these have been corrected?

To those who own a copy of his previous title, "Standard Catalog of German Military Vehicles", here's his feedback: "The biggest difference is the new book incorporates another decade's worth of research, which allows errors in the Standard Catalog to be corrected, and additional material added. In most cases, the tabulated data is more comprehensive, the text more exhaustive, the paper quality improved, which allows the photos to reproduce better. There are several different photos. The new book lacks the soft skin trucks and motorcycles."

Thanks for that Tat. I was getting confused with the Encyclopedia of German Tanks. I have this and also the Catalogue of German Military Vehicles. Shame there couldn't just be an "Errata" issued! I think I will leave this new title - I liked the inclusion of the softskins, so would need to retain the old book anyway.

You're welcome Steve. I have a copy of the "Standard Catalog..." as well, and thought I'd ask what the difference was between the two. David also mentioned that the new book will come as a hardbound edition.
