The Marines had their own version, called M1955 Fragmentation Vest. Here's the 1967 model : http://www.mooremilitaria.com/flak-vests-and-rucksacks.html But who knows .... H.P.

OK, Guys- Educate me; what are the differences between the US Army's and the US Marine Corps' Vietnam Era Flak Vests..? It's going to be a long, protracted effort on my part, but I've always wanted to put together a dio of our Marines at Hue, so the Flak Vests are an important item for me... I know that the various Services have their own Logistics and Supply Organizations, but couldn't there have been some "mutual swapping" going on between the Army and the Marines, or doesn't it happen..? Thanks...

About the only differences were that they came as a soft or hard plated vest. Soft vest went on like a vest and could be closed up. The "Hard" plate or chicken vest was a hard plate over the chest and belly and went on over your head and velcro'd shuit.
