Abosolutely nothing wrong with learning to sculpt (be it for conversions or full figures), it's probably as integral a part of figure modelling as painting figures. However I think you're sadly mistaken if you think that the WW2 Commonwealth of Nations modeller has a wider choice and range of figures than that of the Allied Napo modeller. I will concede that there is probably a shortage of Brit 17th century figures, but definitely not Napo!

Acav and Pat, I couldn't agree more with your comments : converting, that's modelling ! For example, I'm currently working on two guys from French foreign legion, and the next project will be a French mg team in indochina : all of them wore shorts. Either you scuplt legs and shorts on it, and I'm not able to sculpt legs for the moment, either you go for the old 8th army set from tamiya and more recently the Dragon kit, which are in action. So now I will have the choice for shorts between action poses and marching/standing position. Anyway....very happy with that release. Best, Julien

I know I'll get one or two sets for sure. I'll build some OOB and do what I can to the others to alter them a bit to suit my needs. I'm very glad to see them released regardless of their pose and/or clothing. Having said that, I can understand both sides of the points being made. Don't expect me to jump up and down cheering when you give me a biscuit after starving me for years. Especially while I've sat back and watched you feed steak to the others. Everything is relative, IMO.

You're not interested in WW2? You're not interested in this set? Then why moan about it at all? I for one really like to see this one. I've got a quite a bunch of British models waiting to be built and these figures will come in nicely to add some human interest. Now, could we also have a British Tank Crew? Perhaps two, two man set for use in PTO and ETO. That would sell by the truckload

Despite any kit shortcomings, I for one am more than greatful that DML are putting comonwealth figures on the market, and although the poses aren't perhaps the most imaginative, they do depict an area yet uncovered by the big plastic figure makers, and for that I am greatful. As for Gen2, I hope they're not. Personally, i'm not a big fan, I've built a couple of sets, and don't beleive you get anything a whole lot better than other normal DML figs with a bit of TLC, especially not with the added cost and complications. This is just my opinion though and I must say that the weapons spruces however are very impressive. Good job dragon, just please keep them coming, as has been mentioned in the thread, this is only a small step towards filling the massive void in the commonwealth figure market. tank crews, action poses and more airborne figures would all be welcomed with open arms, I also like the idea of a mortar team someone mentioned. Hi Guys, Interesting reading the posts. Glad to see these guys arrive. Like Pat I wasn't that impressed with the 8th Army guys, so didn't buy them as I thought they were over priced and not that good. That said I'll probably buy 2 of these new sets and a set of the 8th Army just to play around with I'm glad to see more Commonwealth troops, it would be nice to think some of the manufacturers would branch out a bit and increase the range and variety of Commonwealth figures, I've been harping on about it since I got back into the hobby. There is good potential here, so more fun to look forward to and as Pat says were are better off now than we were before. Now DML about those Commonwealth medics, engineers and tank crews, and oh yes, that new weapons set............. Pat , thanks for the colour pic and thanks DML for some interesting alternatives. Al
