Dragon Models have just published the first images of their latest JagdTiger.
DRA 6351 - Jagdtiger Porsche Version ~ Premium Edition

Not much more to go on, but looking at the published images, quite a lot of improvements seem to have been made to the original model...

Carius' ride should've been Y1 if the company designations had been followed...X1 belonged to Ernst. X7 wasn't surrendered at Iserlohn but lost at Obernephen...at least according to this thread: http://www.ww2f.com/information-requests/19718-spzjagabt-512-otto-carius-vehicle-number.html

Well at least it doesn't have rubber tracks. That is the big thing for me. i simply cannot stand them. But that is MHO. Looks good. Looks like a typical Dragon kit from what we see here. I would like to see a lot more detail shots then what we have here. But not were not seeing that just yet. Can't wait to get mine. But a lot more to get first.

It doesn't even have Magic Tracks Just the old sprue-tracks from kit 6051, so why is it called a premium-kit??? Look here for sprue-shots: LINK René

Because new molds are at a premium, so if they can get away with re-releasing something, they will!

It's available now Somehow earlier than Tamiya's JT... Looking forward to the first reviews.

Thanks for the intel. DML's 3800 yen vs. Tamiya's 5000 yen should make this an easy choice for me. They also have it up for cheaper at the Dragon USA online store for $37.95. http://www.dragonusaonline.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=DRA6351 The higher price at HLJ isn't surprising as the Japanese yen exchange rate is extremely high these days. It's probably best to back off from the Japanese online stores for now. The exchange rate is killing their prices. Cheers Ivan

Interesting news, although the lack of magic tracks makes a little less than a truly premium kit to me at least. Good to see a great discussion on the Jagdtigers already. Great inspiration in this forum as always For modellers on the EU mainland, the British pound is low at the moment, so there can be made some bargains at the UK internet stores. just a hint

If they are like the other porsche JT the tracks look like a real bugger to put together, 5 or 6 pieces per link I would still rather have difficult indy links than a couple of rubber bands . I don't understand how people have trouble with magic tracks. I generally won't buy models with the toy tracks unless it is a real cool piece. Haven't tried the dragons DS tracks but they scare me. I love the indy links

Hi all The kit look's good, but I missed somehow to find real improvements over the old DML 6051 kit. It looks more like adding the upgrade parts from the DML 6285 kit. Maybe it's an upgrade on the upper hull but what about the sparse fighting compartment? Has there been any change over the old kit in that respect? I couldn't find any hint on new armored exhaust covers with lifting pins either (it's strange that one finds them on all newer KT kits with Porsche turret but on none of the other new kits contains them). There's another odd thing wih the box art. Like on the old box there's the "102", this time without "Zimmerit", but the real engine was coated with it, although the old box art showed the tank with it as well, even though it reached not high enough on the armored box sides judging from the original pictures of thre wrecked tank. This leeds me to the Zimmerit. This stuff was applied on at least eight, probably nine of the eleven Jagdtigers produced in at least two different heigth levels on the sides of the box structure. Up to now this was never reproduced in a kit, nor was it considered for the picture on the kit's box. The new Jagdtiger from Tamiya is a Henschel version. From the few pictures I could already see, at least the Fighting compartment looks far superior to its Dragon counterpart, but in the end one can make a clear judgement with both kits in hand only which is the reason for me to buy them both. By the way, concerning the prices of DML and Tamiya kit there's no real difference once they reach the shelves in our area here, if they ever do. Sometimes I can save some money by ordering such kits in internet shops and for some kits its the only chance to get them at all, but there are also the freight charges and taxes to pay and sometimes you have to deal with the customs depending how big the parcel and number of kits are.
