After doing a little research, i've now found details and images of ALL the Armor-Related releases announced at this year's Shizuoka Hobby Show in Japan, by Tamiya

To begin with, there is NOTHING which hadn't previously been 'leaked' onto the various Forums. There are in my opinion, a couple of exceptional releases amongst them. More thoughts at the end...

35300 - British Infantry Tank Matilda - Mk.III/IV

35301 - Citroen Traction 11CV - Staff Car

35302 - 3.7cm FLAK37 Anti-Aircraft Gun - with Crew Set

89785 - British L.R.D.G. Command Car with Breda 20mm AA Gun

One Release was announced in 1/48th Scale:

32564 - Mtl.SPW.Sd.kfz 251/1 Ausf.D

In the company's paint range, four new Diorama Products were announced:

87108 - Diorama Texture Paint- Soil Effect: Brown

87109 - Diorama Texture Paint- Soil Effect: Dark Earth

87110 - Diorama Texture Paint- Grit Effect: Light Sand

87111 - Diorama Texture Paint- Grass Effect: Green

Regarding the Armor releases, the undoubted highlight is the New Matilda. This is a COMPLETELY New-Tooling and will allow for the building of the Mark III or the Mark IV. The Mk. III will be suitable for the Western Desert, the Mk.IV for Australian or even Soviet service.

The Citreon is another of the 'stars' of the releases and this will open up a lot of possibilities for Dioramas..

Regarding the other two (in 1/35th scale) The Chevrolet is a Re-Issue of the company's LRDG truck with addition of Italeri's 20mm Breda. It's a pity that Tamiya DIDN'T take this opportunity to re-work the Chevy to bring it up to a Modern standard... The FLAK 37 APPEARS to be a New-Tooling, the crew figures are produced by ICM. The final release, the 251/1 (Ausf.D) in 1/48th scale, is a completely NEW Tooling and is definitely a welcome release.

In general, it's a 'Workmanlike' series of announcements, nothing to get the pulses racing, but some useful releases nevertheless. No indications that Tamiya is particularly concerned about the competition (which grows stronger by the day), nor is the company paying more than slight attention to the 'Hard-Core' market.

After all the 'Debate(s)' about prices, the source I used, TamiyaUSA, is listing some pretty good RRPs - the Matilda is getting listed at $47.00. Whether this is reflected in the REST of the World, we'll have to see..
