Tristar Sdkfz 222 + Pzr Running Gear & Tracks

Tristar have sent us details of their new Sd.Kfz. 222 and box art for their new PZIV Running Gear set and PZIII/IV Mid Version Workable Tracklinks.

The kit represents the early version chassis with the H-shape suspension arm (image 5). The suspension is fully detailed with metal springs, H-shape suspension arms, steering rod and wheel hubs.

The Sd.Kfz. 222 kit comes with a full interior, steering wheel and driver. All view ports have the option of being open or closed, and transparent armoured glass is also included.

The kit includes four hollow rubber tires with tread detail, just as the real tire. Tristar promise that this material doesn’t corrode any other material of the kit. All wheels can be rotated.

Tristar list the features of the kit as:

Correct H-shaped suspension arms
Metal suspension spring (8 pcs.)
Interior detail
Highly authentic two man turret
The Kwk 38 and co axial MG 34 can be elevated
Highly detailed photo etch turret cover mesh
Turret cover mesh can be shown open or closed
All vehicle viewing ports can be shown open or closed
Transparent viewing ports amoured glass included
Transparent head light included
Real hollow rubber tires with authentic tread.
2 different thickness Photoetch included
Decal made by Cartograf including WW II Bulgarian Army marking

I'm looking forward to this and, of course to the resurrection of Tristar! I'm certain it will be a great model. BTW: Have they mentioned a word on the paintability of the tires?

Hi, I got a bit excited there for a split-second, I thought it was going to be the early flat roof version. I think it was the lower version of the anti-grenade screen that fooled me. Alas (for me) it is a later one. I kinda doubt that Tristar will go to the tooling expense of making a new upper hull specially to do an early 222 as there wouldn't be a huge demand for it (Would there?) Most people seem to prefer the later versions of a vehicle. Makes me wonder why the manufactu...

The Tristar 222 looks very promising! I am not exactly jazzed about the rubber tires, but Bronco may come to the rescue with an after-market set and resin replacements already exist. The detail in the suspension looks impressive and the steerable front wheels are very welcome. I note that Tristar included the reinforcing bars coming off the front bumper--the first time I have see that on a 221-223 series kit. I wonder if Tristar will include some visor options for more flexibility. The Pa...

Are the Tracks the same ones that came with Tristars Brummbar and are the wheel set the correct size now, not like the earlier set. Also does anyone know how much these new wheel and track sets are going to cost? Cheers
