Yes there are a fair few in DML's 'Stable', however, an Initial production one, IMO, can only be a good thing.

Hi, David, I would purchase the Friul transport tracks and likely use the DS tracks "rolled up" on the flat car. Photos I've seen of Tigers in transit showed the tracks rolled up at either end that way. Generally I detest DS tracks for German AFVs because they don't have the correct "sag" and just don't look right. I have seen some modelers who can glue them on in such a way as to make them look right, but I have neither the skill nor the inclination to acquire it, LOL!

I would love to see a side-by-side comparison of this and the original Dragon kit, which I have. Is this one worth another $50?

The only Tiger I have is the Cyber Hobby Wittmann - I will welcome this one into the stash for sure.

Bill: the changes were due to rising costs of manufacture, and research into new photos that have surfaced over the last 5 years. This kit drops the diorama accessories; figures, jerrycans, shells, ammo boxes, bucket. Some metal parts are omitted and plastic is used; gun barrel, smoke launchers, tow shackles, a few small parts. Tracks are now DS rather than single-link. A few spare single links are provided, of both orientations. Formerly missing items are now provided; towing cables and engine mesh screens, intake ducts under the engine deck, the track toolbox. All of these include metal parts. Some things are modified for greater accuracy: the turret shell, the Pz 3 turret bin, the layout of the tools, the exhaust flappers, sprockets, suspension bump stops, hull bottom, exposed wheel hub. Two helmets with PE straps are added, to hang on the turret. This is typical of the real Tigers. Two different lengths of exhaust extension pipe are provided, as appropriate for the decals. The decal sheet has been mostly redrawn, and includes extra digits to allow some variation outside the three specified schemes. There are also a few surplus decals; the mammoth and the "100" symbols. I found the original decals to be slightly out of scale, so these spares should be useful if you have the old kit. David

Thanks, David. I have a bunch of unbuilt Tigers in my stash, and am trying to find a compelling reason to add another, LOL. Looks like a great kit for a very targeted vehicle group. Congratulations on DML recognizing your expertise in all this.
