One of the things that the French publisher, Histoire & Collections does particularly well, is in the area of uniforms and equipment. Now, a NEW book is available from the company covering the Soviet Infantryman.
The New book is:

The Soviet Soldier of World War Two (ISBN : 978-2-35250-100-8)

On a similar format to their excellent books on the British Infantryman along with others on U.S. Paras or the German Feldbluse - to mention only three in their VERY wide catalogue.

To give the Publisher's product description for a moment:

There have been few books on the history and uniforms of the World War 2 Soviet Army. The interested reader will find here a coherent wealth of information on the Red Army’s organization and orders of battle, its uniforms and equipment, and its matériel (soft skinned vehicles, AFVs, Artillery, Signals...). The various guises of the Soviet soldier, from Barbarossa to the fall of Berlin, have been reproduced in color with more than 50 studio reconstructions of infantrymen, artillerymen, parachutists, tankmen, women soldiers, marines, commissars, etc.
A large variety of individual equipment, small arms, personal items, insignia and medals are illustrated in detail. The book also features hundreds of unpublished period photographs, many from the soldiers themselves.

It's a format which works very-well indeed and should be a useful addition to a subject which is NOT as well-covered as it should be...

Available from the usual importers/retailers or direct fom the company themselves:

I have 12 H&C books on various uniforms, and if this anything to go by, the Russian uniform book will be fantastic and really needed! The only decent book I found on the subject until now was "Red Army uniforms of WW2 in colour photographs". Really looking foward to this and recommend the H&C books to those who are interested.

It is good to see this Jim as I have not found a book yet that covers this subject well. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

Please edit the typos, it's "Histoire & Collections" (as can be read on the company logo), not "Historie & Collections". Cheers, Christophe
