U.S. Mail Bags

MailCall

I think everyone has done a Mail Call diorama where GI's are getting mail off the back of a Deuce and a half. Well, CD has a special delivery as far as an AM product for this diorama. They have a kit of mail bags - CD 6128 .
The box and parts

Custom Dioramics is using some better sized blister boxes. The parts don't move around as much inside. That wouldn't be a problem with this particular kit. It is worth noting so you know that they are trying to improve thier products and they listen to the feedback they get.

The box is 1.5 x 3.5 x 1.25 inches. It has a wondefully painted sheet for the cover. Mrosko is the painter and he has done a great job showing you the detail you can add. Inside is a ziplock bag with six mail bags in it. These bags are sculpted
by Ben Jakobsen and he has really represented the rough texture of these heavy duty bag very well. There is a resin block at one end and it won't create a any problems for removal at all. You may have to touch up the area with a bit of sandpaper. The detail on these bags is great, you can even make out the metal grommets around the synch holes for the openings.
I have included two images of current style bags to give you an idea of how close these are to even todays standard bags. Ben has done a great job.
Impression

I give this kit a lot of credit for quality, the sculpting is great. The general design is good. I would buy one of these sets to have on hand. The downside to this set is that all six bags are made from the same master. There is no variety in the shape. This makes it harder to use multiple bags in one diorama and achieve a natural look. You can use all six in one diorama if you really want to but it may look redundant. If you want to use a couple in separate areas of a diorama, great go for it, these will be fine. If you want to use these in multiple projects even better.

I would like to see maybe a "3 and 3" kit, three bags from one master and three bags from a slightly different master. The more varied the parts the better.

I personally would spend the money for this kit as is - I would definitley spend more if it were varied.

I'd like to thank VLS for providing this kit for review - Thanks
