Unitec Medienvertrieb is a new publisher to me who have sent some titles for review. The book I am reviewing here is written under the Flugzeug Profile and covers aspects primarily of the German Air Force, but a look through previous titles in the series indicates that aircraft from other countries also get covered by this publisher. The book is soft backed and consists of 48 pages in the example I have here.
This title looks at the Messerschmitt Bf 110 A to C. The book is a soft backed book with a stiff card cover. The paper within the book is a good quality gloss paper and this does show the photographs very well. The text is unfortunately in German only and that will affect its appeal to anyone who cannot read German. With that said this book still has something to offer to those interested in the Messerschmitt Bf 110 A to C; plus of course there are also free online translation programmes if you want to know what a specific piece of information is saying.
The Messerschmitt Bf 110 is one of those German aircraft of World War Two that I consider to be iconic and instantly recognisable to most people interested in that conflict. This title from Unitec Medienvertrieb covering the early Messerschmitt Bf 110, as in those prior to World War Two and the aircraft that took part in the Battle of Britain, it does a very good job from a photographic stand point of covering the aircraft.
The photographs in the title are of a very good quality and a good mix of colour and black and white offerings. Many of these photographs I have not seen before and provide a good mix of aircraft on the ground and in flight. Also included are a few graphics showing the pilots console and the undercarriage in good detail, these will be of help to the modeller who wants their details to be just so. At the end of the book there is a four way colour drawing of a Messerschmitt Bf 110 and this seems a good way to end the book.
Each one of these titles falls within the €14 bracket and I feel that is a reasonable price for the quality of the product. By this not being printed as a duel language book its appeal is reduced, but the quality of the photographs does make up for that short coming in my opinion. I will say that due to being printed in German only I would be selective about what titles I purchased rather than just purchase every release, but that is just me.
Highs: Excellent photographs through out in both colour and black and white.Lows: Being printed in German only does harm its appeal to none German readers.Verdict: This particular title covering what I consider to be an iconic aircraft does appeal to me due to the great photographic content.
