The M113 is essentially an aluminium box on tracks that has been serving as an Armoured Personnel Carrier for decades with several armed forces around the world. It was developed by the Food Machinery Corp. Even though it has been replaced by the M2 and M3 Bradley in its original role, there are several modifications serving as mortar carriers, AA guns, flamethrowers, cargo carriers, etc.
There are multiple kits available of this venerable vehicle by Italeri, ESCI, S-Model, Armada Hobby, Trumpeter and AMT. This review looks at the OKB Grigorov replacement wheel set for the M113.
This set is essentially a simple replacement for the road wheels and the idlers (no drive wheels are included) of the M113. The wheels come in two halves, which need to be glued together. The resin wheels are provided in two colours; supposedly each side has been moulded in different resin. (Thatís my explanation.)
The parts have virtually no flash, and the detail is really crisp and fine. The wheels come attached to resin pour plugs; the attachment points are thin, so it should be easy to remove them using a scalpel. Itís an easy replacement set for any of the M113 kits out there.
Highs: great detail, simple assemblyLows: can't really think of anyVerdict: If you want replacement for the kit wheels, then it's a good set for you.
