Ziterdes
tells us:
Buildings make your gaming table to a special place. The kind and form of the building stands representative of the "where" of the action - the battle. So the characteristic buildings are on your gaming table more impresive the overall impression, as more varying, diversify, and artful the game. By the way: In addition to the function as an obstacle buildings are also perfect for a mission. The house made by ZITERDES hard foam offers a massive truss structure. Both the wooden beams so the stones of the foundation and the roof shingles are perfectly reproduced with undercuts and wood grains.

Welcome to Ziterdes!

The Model
Half-Timbered House is made of hard foam. While this is rigid hard foam, it can be manipulated with heat, so be careful what you set it near. The foam is otherwise very tough yet very light, more so than resin or ceramic. It can be easily cut, ground and honed, and painted.

These models are made to stand alone or be joined with related models and incorporated into larger scenes.

Detail
This is a one-piece casting. Ziterdes sculpted a stones foundation, wood grain, leaden glass windows, ironwork for the door, and stucco texture.

The chimney is not molded open. Very obvious. The foam can be carved so opening it up should not be a major problem.

Scale
This house is scaled to the common fantasy wargaming, skirmish-level, science fiction, and role-playing scale of 25-28mm; that is 1/64 (S gauge for model railroading). If you have read our first two Ziterdes reviews you will recall that the models were displayed with several scales. I did the same here but unlike the bunker and the fighting position, Half-Timbered House is not as versatile to incorporate into scales outside of 15-28mm. Modelers can use this for forced-perspective although if one is a scalist, you will be limited to a narrow range of scales.

This model bears a footprint of:
    Width 100,00 mm (4 inches)
Length 145,00 mm (almost 6 inches)
    Height 105,00 mm (4 3/8 inches)

Painting
I have not tested this foam with solvent-based paint. Acrylics can be applied without worry.

Conclusion
Half-Timbered House makes a good impression upon me. The scale of precludes convincing use beyond the sci-fi and fantasy scales. I am disappointed the chimney is not molded open.

Regardless, Ziterdes' Half-Timbered House is impressive and I look forward to painting it up. Recommended.
