Hummer w/ M242 BushMaster

by: Lance Mertz [ 2-2DRAGOON ]

With current events what they are I was looking at modern US vehicles. I have not done anything with wheels in a while. While visiting the local hobby shop I came across this kit. It was over-priced, but I have not been able to find this online and I believe it may be a very new release. I am sure someone here can help me on that.

Ok, it is not a great kit, but the subject matter gets me.The kit is not very complex or detailed, in my opinion. The dash and front seats are rudimentary, and only having been in one I can't tell you how close it is, but it looks like a detailer could have some work here.In the picture you can see there are 4 sprues, one with the wheels, etc, which I assume is a generic sprue for other Tamiya Hummers, two with the body and gun and one clear sprue. The rest of the vehicle looks well molded and made. Having not built it yet, I cannot tell. The cool thing is the Bushmaster gun that mounts on the roof, being the same gun as on the Bradley AFV, it is quite a load for a Hummer.I assume that this configuration is what the new 2nd ACR and other light scouting units have or will have. The gun looks well detailed and made, but then I have never seen one in the flesh. The interior of the Hummer is minimal, as mentioned, with no ammo storage or other things I would expect to the rear of the gun. When I build it I will add this sort of stowage, along with some on the back of the vehicle, and using pictures from the current conflict, other things. The decals look minimal, if not cheap. There are US Army and Marine decals. The proper decaling would take a little research, I think. It looks like a fun kit to build, but not a classic, except for the gun and opportunities for enhancements.I look forward to building it as well as seeing what other modellers make of this opportunity.
