Tarp for Dragon`s Sd.Kfz 251 C

by: Robert Blokker [ FAUST ]

Introduction.
I was delighted to be chosen to review this piece from MIG Productions Spain. Pawel (Vodnik) send it to me with the question if I could make a review out of it. It is about the Canvas cover for Dragons Sd.Kfz 251 C # DR6187.

The Package.
The Part comes in a Ziploc bag that was stapled between a cardboard cover. And MIG is somebody who understands that something needs to be attractive to see too. Therefore I think it is necessary to pay some attention about the way it is packed. All his product-packaging is well designed something which I as designer always like to see. In this case the cardboard cover was high quality printed on one side and black on the other side. The front side is a bit shorter and shows the company logo, A description what the contents are and a little picture of the tarp in it’s place on the Sd.Kfz. 251 C. The backside is as large as the bag and shows 2 pictures. One with the same vehicle as on the front, but then from a different angle. The other picture shows only the tarp beautifully painted as we know MIG.

Contents.
In the bag you will find 1 resin piece. Of the canvas cover for above the crew compartment of the Sd.Kfz.251 C. Very well cast and the detail of the folds and the tilts that the tarp is laying on is very sharp and realistic looking. On the round side of the tarp (the part that is lying on the roof of the driver’s compartment) is the casting block. Very easy to remove…. I don’t see any problems with that. This is the only cleaning I found that was required.

Assembly.
There is no assembly required to the tarp itself it is one piece but I happened to have the DML Sd.Kfz. 251 C in my stash so I test fitted it on the top hull section. You need to have almost the complete upper structure assembled except for the MG`s on both sides as the tarp covers those areas. One thing that needs to be on the driver’s compartment roof is the bended part called C31 as the tarp is lying against it.

Conclusion.
With this part you will be able to make the winter version of the Sd.Kfz. 251 C or if you don’t want to built the interior of the vehicle. The quality of this accessory is very good and another example of the high quality of the manufacturer. In the past I have used some other article from MIG productions (Russian Tank crew and the wonderful MIG pigments) and till now I have never had any complaints about their products. This goes in the same line. Another wonderful addition to the MIG catalogue and it enables you to show the vehicle from another side.

A big thanks goes out to Miguel Jimenez of MIG Productions for the review sample!
