introduction

The elves hard at work in the AFV Club factories have come out with another nice addition to their growing line of kits and accessories. They have put together a nifty little set of turned brass ammunition for the M2/M3/M6 family of 75 mm tank guns employed by the Western Allies during World War II.

The Sherman, Lee, Grant, and Churchill Mk IV NA 75 tank all used one of these guns as their main armament, so the set should be a popular one.

The set

The set provides you with five different configurations of ammunition, four each of the following:

the M89 smoke round
M72 HEAT round
M48 HE round
M47 round, and also
four empty brass cartridges
a set of decals to dress up each of the rounds as well as a small photo-etched sheet that provides the cartridge base and primer for each.

the review

I commend AFV Club for the photo-etch piece, the spent rounds even have the primer cap showing where the firing pin has struck the base. While there are no instructions per se (how much do you need?), the back of the package provides a decal placement and painting guide for you.

conclusion

All in all a very nice set of ammo, very well done, great decals, nice photo-etch, and a goodly number of different rounds. With more and more models available with interiors, this should prove to be a popular addition for years to come.

I have been modeling for about 30 years now. Once upon a time in another century I owned my own hobby shop; way more work than it was worth. I tip my opti-visor to those who make a real living at it. Mainly build armor these days but I keep working at figures, planes and the occasional ship.

Please delete this if it's thread jacking, Bill. My buddy Chris did a full build up of the rounds. Very impressive stuff

Not at all, Roy, I think it does our members good to see the rounds actually built and painted. Thanks for sharing that! And he did a helluva job, too.
