introduction

This article is a review of the book “C15TA in Canadian Service”, author Roger V. Lucy. The book is part of the Weapons of War Series by Service Publications, 2012, ISBN: 978-1-894581-75-2

the book

It was not that long ago that I was corrected when I stated the C15TA was a softskin, for it is a true armoured car. Due to production availability of the U.S. made White M3 Armoured Car, the British and Canadians collaborated on the design and development of the C15TA, based on the Canadian Military Pattern 4 wheel drive chassis.

C15TA in Canadian Service is another book in the Weapon of War series by Service Publications. The book is 24 pages, 22 great pictures, and a full 2 page illustration showing the C15TA. The book is printed on quality paper and staple bound with a card stock cover, very well written, and easy to read. The C15TA in Canadian Service does an excellent job of describing the development of the C15TA. Through the requirements for both the British War Office and Canadian Department of National Defence, the book steps through the changing scope, differing requirements and development of this Canadian made vehicle.

I found it very interesting that due to the length of development and labour unrest, delays in production limited its use, but it did make an impact on the units with which it was deployed. Not knowing that much about the vehicle before reading the book, I am more knowledgeable about this great Canadian vehicle.

conclusion

Service Publications has added another great book to the Weapon of War Series. It is a great read and definitely worth the addition to any collection, and priced at $9.95 CDN, it is very affordable.
