Willy's Jeep

by: Sabot [ SABOT ]

Molded in the standard Italeri dark green, this RoG review will sound very much like an Italeri review. The two companies are pretty much joined at the hip when it comes to military models.

This kit shows its lineage to be the old Italeri Jeep. Much like the Commando Car and Jeep Ambulance, this kit is a reissue of the standard Jeep kit with a few changes to the wheel sprue. Additions to the new sprue are a M2HB .50 caliber machine gun (standard Italeri mold) with mount; optional front fender guards; front wire cutter; and a nice radio rack and new antenna. All of the parts have the petite detailing found in Italeri kits with little flash and the standard thin pioneer tools. The clear parts still have the rear window, although no canvas cover is included.

Also missing is the driver figure sprue that I assumed would be included. One of the high points of this kit is the decal sheet. It includes options for four vehicles (all US) and each with a different large star on the hood:
2nd Armor Division, 82nd Recon Bn;
1st Cavalry Division;
8th Infantry Division, 121st Infantry Regt;
4th Infantry Division, 2nd Recon Sqdn, 8th Cavalry Regt. It is a nicely done sheet that includes the bridge classification marking. Recommended for Jeep enthusiasts.
