History

After escaping the zombie nightmare of New Orleans Krystal hitched a ride in a military convoy, attacked by a zombie horde and wiped-out, Krystal was the only survivor. Krystal likes her guns like she likes her men, big and powerful. This girl may look as sweet as candy but she packs a punch.

The Package

The package an attractive end opening box in black with a picture of the painted figure on the front and the figure name and title. The sides also carry the figures name and title, while the back has a synapsis of the world this figure is from along with the copyright information, web address and sculptor and box art artist names. For those that like these details the figure is sculpted by David Richardson and the box art is by Chris Octive

Inside the box

Well we have one zip-loc back and a piece of resin pavement (sidewalk) all held in place by several pieces of foam. The zip-loc bag contains 12 resin parts which although they have mould seams are not hard too cleanup, some flash is present but again will not cause an issues too clean as long as you take your time around the more delicate parts. Now on my model I had a couple of air bubbles at the joins of the gun stocks which would cause any issue for repair, however after making contact with DWC a replacement was supplied so thumbs up for costumer service. Although in the finished photo those parts have not been fitted.

The Figure

The figure is a female survivor dressed in cargo / combat trousers and bikini top with a holstered pistol, dagger and in her right hand a gun of the M16 family and in her left a M249 Minimi / SAW. Parts break down consists of main body and legs as one piece, head with separate pig tails, right hand with breech block, M16 forward section, stock and silencer, left arm with trigger assemble, M249, holstered pistol and dagger in scabbard. All this is set off with a corner pavement piece for which you can display your work. After clean up all the parts went together without hassle.

Anatomy and Pose

This figure I believe looks to be of the correct proportions anatomically. The pose, this may cause an issue for some but I’ll explain the concept as explained to me by DWC. Dawn of the Apocalypse is basically a film in miniatures were the survivors are Hollywood style action heroes based loosely on big name actors who seem to be able to do things us mere mortals cannot. An example would be ‘Rambo’ with he’s one handed M60 so Cameron Diaz er.. sorry Krystal here is doing just that.

In Conclusion

The second survivor figure from an exciting new range that this reviewer cannot wait to see more of, some clean up required and in my sample an air bubble issue but this was resolved by good customer service. Well moulded and interesting.

Thank's Andrzej for posting this. Mario I'll start a wip thread for the rest of the build but it will be slow due mainly to me working shifts and small changes are already being made to the rest of the build. I'm short on a couple of figures so as I can't find what I need I've just ordered a book too learn how to sculpt and / or convert my own. Although I have it that the next figure from DWC will be along soon and while talking to the owner last weekend I was told what it will be but, I don't know if I'm allowed to pass that on so I'll keep quiet until it's announced.

I know what you mean about working slow. New figures from DWC? Sounds good... Can't wait to see what they have in their sleeve. Mario

Mario, I've started a blog here over on Auto Modeler as there are two cars and a truck in the dio but you can see the figures I'm using and they will get photo'ed as they progress.
