Introduction

Of all the manufacturers I buy from Resicast probably has the largest range of WW2 British Accessories and the recent release of this set of 2 gallon cans with brand names just adds to the extensive range of additional items.

The Set

The set comes packed in the standard Resicast format for small items; two zip plastic bags, (one inside the other),one containing the kit and the other a card insert showing manufacture and product details with a small pictre of the items.

The cans are cast in a light grey resin and come on pour plugs of 4 cans per pour x 5 pours, so 20 cans in all. The cans are nicely cast and to finish them off you get two frets of PE handles that also contain 3 x vehicle tail gate chains (a very handy additional item).

The cans show detail for BP, and two different types of Shell can plus one with detail on the top lid I can’t quite make out, so 4 different types of detail x 5. Other than that the casting and detail is very good.

These should be handy for the pre and early war years when it was not uncommon to see civilian cans being used with military vehicles.

No painting guide is included so you may have to do a little research to come up with the correct colour schemes. That said there are plenty of images of old cans available on google images.

Clean up will be minimal and normal safety precautions apply when working with resin.

Conclusion

Another very useful item from Resicast, offering yet more choice of finish to the modeller. The addition of the tail gate chains on each PE fret is a nice bonus.

These are useable from the pre WWI period and can be found to this day tucked away in peoples garages and sheds.

Greying slightly, but young at heart. I've been teaching adults off and on for most of my life. Left the services in 85 and first started modelling in about 87 for a few years. Then I had a long spell when I didn't build anything (too busy) and really just got started again during the summer of ...
