Introduction

The Hay Wagon complete resin kit is sold in a sturdy cardboard flip-top box. This set contains 25 resin cast parts needed to construct this rustic, wooden looking Hay Wagon. The parts come nestled in two Ziploc type bags and all of the parts are attached to their individual cast blocks. There is small two-sided instruction manual included as well.

The instruction, albeit limited, are laid out in an easy to follow manner as the construction of this model is fairly straightforward. The majority of the time needed to build this model will be with cleaning up the individual parts. Along with still being attached to their respective cast blocks, the thin flashing of resin is still present on many parts. This is easily removed with a sharp #11 hobby blade and a light sanding to various locations.

The wooden rendered parts are all cleanly molded with a fine wood grain effect to them. Although this is not a complex model to build, some care will be needed with several of the parts as they are delicate in nature due to their size. All part being resin will require the use of Cyanoacrylate (superglue) to attach them.

Start to finish the model took me about 2 hours or so to construct. Again, most of the time was in cleaning parts for installation. The delicate nature of the model gives a true to scale appearance of the traditional mid-twentieth century hay wagon from any of the European nations.

Conclusion

The Hay Wagon resin kit from Plus Model would make a fine addition to any diorama setting. I am sure that scratch-building of an accessory piece like this is possible; however, this is a fine representation of a period wagon and an all-inclusive kit. The parts are well laid out and the end result is more than acceptable for depicting with a scene especially with Central European styling. The price seems a little high, being around $32.00 US, but pieces are well defined and the quality is not bad at all.
SUMMARY
Highs: A clean and detailed accessory depicting a period hay wagon. High quality resin casting.
Lows: Other than the price seeming to be a bit high the removal of cast-off flashing was a bit tedious.
Verdict: All in all this is a finely cast set and is sure to add some color and setting to any diorama. At times, the clean-up of parts is a little monotonous but sticking with it the model is a quick build with a decent outcome.

I am building what I like, when I like and how I like it; having fun doing it. I have been building and finishing models on and off my whole life but the past ten years things really exploded. Just about anything goes when it comes to hitting the bench, but wrecked armor, rusted hulks, ships or ...
