introduction

Although the M14 was phased out in the 1960’s, its contemporary variants are still used in the U.S. military. Modified M14s are used them in Afghanistan and Iraq, primarily as designated marksman and sniper rifles with the powerful 7.62mm x 51mm round that extends its range and penetrates cover. It is still in inventory due to its excellent accuracy, effectiveness at long range, and strong takedown capabilities of the 7.62mm round.

The Condor MA24 Pouch is designed to hold two standard M14 7.62 mm/NATO .308 magazines and comes in 4"H x 7"W size and MultiCam, ACU, Olive Drab, Black, Tan finish.

The review

This is a review of Live Resin’s latest offering in 1/35 scale: CONDOR MA24 7.62 NATO 308 MOLLE Rifle Magazine Pouches [set LRE-35111]

Live Resin products come in a standard zip-lock plastic bag clamped in a cardboard 3D box-art. The front image is showing the parts layout, while the back image illustrates the optional positioning of the pouches on the IOTV torso reviewed here.

The set includes two molding blocks numbered LRE35111A with 14 single rifle mag pouches. All of the pouches are visually identical. The casting is as what’s accustom to Live Resin: there are no imperfections, bubbles or any other types of defects in this sample. The molding stubs are thin and you will not have to worry about removing the parts from the plugs, or sanding anything off. Just a quick snip with your blade or sprue cutters and you’re good to go. The details are very nice; the magazines feature all the recesses and notches (placed upside down in the pouch just like in real life) and even the bungee cords are of two types – one crossed and the other parallel over the mag. This just shows how much LR goes into detail. The PALS are sharply detailed and will look great once painted.

The pouches are nicely molded with the detachable 20-round staggered row magazine inside, and all in all the detail is there, even though it’s a relatively simple design. The only thing missing are the MOLLE attachment points on the back, but this set wasn’t intended to be depicted stand-alone yet attached to the body armor.

Conclusion

This set is another modular piece of the puzzle. Use it for specific load-outs or to replicate scenes from the battlefield to the minute detail. The molding is superb, just like we are all now accustomed from Live Resin and if I only have to find a single nitpick is that the real thing is connected in pairs of 2 pouches. However, the way LR provided them separately just eases the positioning on the body armor itself, so in reality this is a good thing. The Live Resin line-up just got a bit better with these pouches.
