I am rebuilding a dragon E-100 and was just thinking what could I do to make it different. I was thinking a recovery tank or something like that or maybe a tank destroyer version. Just thought I would ask and see what other ideas are out there.

Hey Ryan,
I picked up a Chesapeake Model Designs conversion turret for a Maus or E100 Flakzwilling 8.8cm a few years ago:

It's still available according to the CMD site sales list for $48 USD
Not cheap but certainly something to consider !!!

There was a tank destroyer variant planned, scroll down to the last entry of this page. The Maus turret was also likely to have mounted a 150 mm antitank gun, but this was not put in the prototype, as no such gun existed.

This site, New Connections, may give you some ideas....not to mention that they carry a conversion for the E-100 Stug (krokodil?).

There was am article a while ago in FSM that showcased, if I remember right, three of Steve Anderson's "What if?" E-100 variants. One was a dual Flak 88mm, don't remember what the other two were. Some pretty neat models though, that's for sure.

Cheers -

The only idea ever conceived for a variant based on the E-100 was a Sturmgeschutz as it turned out the turretring for the large gun required wasn't acheivable.

This idea never made it beyond the conception stage. Also, the E-100 is just a case study, NOT a tank intended for production. As were ALL E-series designs, they were nothing more than designs, case studies and ideas.

For instance the E-10 was ditched in favor of the Pz 38(d), the Germanized version of the Pz 38(t). The E-5 APC was replaced by the Katzchen program.

Anything the E-series studies would produce that looked like it presented a benefit, would be entered into existing Panzer-programme.

Thanks guys. I am not really into buying a conversion kit so I am going to try to scratch something. I was thinking of a Jagdtiger version or jagdpanther. Most likely it will be a JT because I think I can just chop the turret down and glue it to the hull and it will cut down on fabricating. I want to use as much of the kit as possible.
Anybody who is interested I found a cool site last night doing some research

I will post some pics when I get started.
